I have to remind myself daily that 'the battle belongs to God', not me! Total trust in Jesus and knowing we are all called for a purpose is essential in our daily walk with Jesus. The way we behave has everything to do with how others perceive us and our walk. . It is a battle and God used military terms for spiritual battles as well. Captive is one of these terms referring to a prisoner of war. The helmet of our salvation protects us from the enemy. When I accepted Christ as my savior, I accepted all of Him! I received a total transformation. I walk in the flesh each day but my salvation is assured for eternity! What is sealed inside that helmet is the ability to keep every thought of God's renewal of my mind.
It is critical for a Christ follower to remember Love and it's characteristics must be shown to everyone we come in contact with, including forgiveness of our fleshly enemies. Whether it be a thorn in your side like the Apostle Paul, or a 'prideful sociopathic Christian', it is God's battle to revenge and repay! Let it go, because, like an f-5 tornado, it will destroy your mind, your church, and everything in it's path!
- Gear up for Battle
Now that I am convinced that God's Word is true, and Jesus is the only way, the only truth, and the only way to life everlasting, I put on the whole armor of God to start walking with Jesus Daily. Terri and I have been married for over thirty years now, so our routines are quite different. Since I am retired now, I spend so much more time in God's Word, and so much less time on worldly matters. It seems that with my mind renewed, the world just fades away.
-Engage the Enemy by standing on God's Truth!
Then my older dogs bark to remind me that, just like me, they need to go potty before their day starts. Then I usually try and enjoy a cup of coffee or green tea too, and then I begin to pray. Sometimes it can be a simple thought with thanking Him that I can still get out of bed. James tells me to count it all joy! Still struggle with that at times. My prayer closet is our office and it is very quiet in the early morning. I call it my 'Crisis Room'. Nothing hidden from God, or my wife.
"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." Jesus Christ Matthew 6:6 KJV
I first thought that prayer had to be long and flowery. Not!
While reading Matthew 6, I found that the truth was God God just wanted me, laid bare, with all my issues and weaknesses so His strength could be made perfect. What a different concept!
WWJD What Would Jesus Do? inspired the blog Walking With Jesus Daily. With a new beginning in 1994, Terri and I have tried to live by the words and do what Jesus did!
Luke 19:37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; 38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. 39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
To begin your Walk with Jesus Daily, ask God to renew your mind! Seek Jesus as Rabbi (teacher) His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Learn from Him. Always test the spirits, to see if they line up with The Holy Scriptures. Pray in The Spirit I kept asking God to 'reveal Himself to me', He declared "I Am That I Am!" The door was immediately opened, and I began a new journey complete with confirmation. I believe God allowed me to have one of the most important gifts of the spirit. It was meant to encourage others, to protect my family from the snares of the devil, and to 'avoid more church hurt'. He loves you that much!
Before It's Too Late
Renew your mind! The battle belongs to The Lord, but you must engage the enemy with God's Truth! Put on your armor, and pray for God to fill your heart and mind with His Word! Just as God closed the door of the ark, so shall be a time when the master comes! Don't be left behind!
These thoughts are suggestions that have worked for Terri and I since our new beginning in 1994! Our journey through grief found me testing the Spirits and with a renewed mind, using discernment in a proper manner. Sometimes the truth hurts, but it is never harmful!
